Large Scale Street View Business Tours
The Aston Villa project required 13 Business Pages and over 900 views to create this superb virtual tour.
Chameleon Web Services were the first company to produce Street View Trusted tours on a huge scale. We won the Global Google Award “Best Use of Google Maps API” in 2014 for our groundbreaking work with the Wolverhampton Wanderers. The examples of work below are complex to produce but allow full useful access around venues using hundreds of different views. Recently Google interestingly relaxed the rules allowing us to offer a more cost effective method for large venues. Read on for more information about our two option service level.
Option 1 – Single tour elevator function
£1000 – Up to 100 views
Includes menu system and pop ups
Efficient Single Visit
Google provide Trusted Photographers with an elevator for multi level businesses to represent an honest layout of floors directly above each other. Recently tours have been appearing on Google Maps with a more liberal use of the elevator function. This approach however can provide some confusion results for the end user so we provide menu systems to help restore order. You have a 100 views to cover the areas you need then there is a charge of £5 for each extra view needed up to the 200 view maximum. We block book the complete day from early hours to late at night to allow any complications with rooms not being quite ready. The 3 tour examples will explain more about the service in a visual manner.
Lee Longlands Birmingham – Conventional Elevator Use
Our tour of the Lee Longlands Furniture Store demonstrates a more traditional use of the elevator function. 103 views are correctly spread across the 4 floors.
Solihull College – Unconventional Elevator Usage
The photography was not produced by Chameleon, you can see the over used elevator has lead to a confusing affair in this 196 view tour.
Solihull College – Menu System Resolves Confusion
We were made aware of this issue whilst working on the Solihulls S.E.O campaign. We produced a menu system allowing Solihull to launch their tours with pride. The info icon on the popups links back to our website.

In 2014 Chameleon Web Services won the Global award for “Best Use Of Google Maps API” using this new approach. The Wolves F.C project showcased over 700 views around the venue, far more than the ceiling of 200 within a single Google tour. Read on to how the Aston Villa Tour came to be.
Step 1 – Creating the Business Pages / Map Pins
As explained, a single tour can only showcase 200 views. The approach for Aston Villa was to create 13 map pins (12 new) which allowed lots of separate tours to venture around the areas needed. This is a good because the customer can stop worrying about the limitations of a single tour and start about all the features that need to be included for display. Every tour begins outside so visitors can explore the route they’ll actually be walking.
Having new pins adds value to Google maps by providing visitors with the right information and locations. All Business pages are 100% optimised by Chameleon with quality photography included, each page performs well in the search rankings.

Step 2 – Producing the virtual tours
We perform a full site visit to understand your needs and advise how best to route the tours for your customers benefits. Don’t hesitate to show us everything including historic points of interest. Multiple site visits are a must on this size of project and this is factored into the cost. Aston Villa’s tour used over 900 views meaning a lot of prep work in each area to make things look perfect.
Step 3 – Creating the menus & pop ups
We design the branding to suit your pop ups and floor spot. You write the content then we enter it into the system. This stage of the project requires a fair amount of work from both parties but the end result are fantastic and flexible. Just send us content over for changes needed and we’ll do the rest. Aston’s Villa project used 236 pop ups.
